About Us
Intersex Canada represents a diverse community of intersex individuals, families and allies who reside in Canada. Intersex Canada was officially registered as a not-for-profit organization in April 2021 by board members from across the country.
Previously known as “Androgyny.ca – Canadian Intersex Network”, Intersex Canada has been active since 2015 within various social networks.
By recognizing the diversity of intersex experiences, we believe that uniting can help us create a supportive space for healing and strengthening our community. We aim to empower intersex individuals and families of intersex children to make informed decisions with confidence. The goal of Intersex Canada is to create an inclusive platform to connect, educate, and facilitate communication for intersex people, families, the general public, medical professionals, and educators.
We aim to cultivate community, and ensure that other intersex people and the loved ones of intersex people, know that they are not alone.
Meet Our Board
Junic
Welcome to Intersex Canada. My name is Junic, and as Board President, I bring my experience as an intersex individual to our mission of advocating for the rights and visibility of intersex people across the nation. I am passionate about human rights and have been a dedicated activist, advocating for the rights of marginalized communities, with my journey in advocacy starting in Uganda. For me, this mission is deeply personal—it’s about creating a world that truly embraces diversity and champions inclusivity. Together, we’ll amplify intersex voices, raise awareness, and inspire positive change. Let’s build a future where everyone, including those like me, can live their truth with pride and dignity. Angela
Angela serves as a Parent Representative at Intersex Canada, where they have been an advocate for intersex children and their families for over 3 years. Angela is dedicated to raising awareness and providing support for the intersex community. Angela aims to empower families, raise awareness, and ensure that every intersex person feels valued and understood.
